QSFP 100G LR
Our QSFP 100G LR series gives you two proven options for reaching 10km over duplex single‑mode fiber, both packed in the standard QSFP28 form factor and operating from 0°C to 70°C case temperature.

The 100G QSFP28 LR4 (MCQ‑4NSCLC‑10) follows the traditional 4‑lane NRZ approach. It uses four DFB lasers on LWDM wavelengths, each running at 25.78Gb/s, and aggregates them into a single 100G stream. On the receive side, a PIN photodiode array recovers the four lanes. The module consumes 3.5W from a 3.3V supply and fully complies with IEEE 802.3ba (100GBASE‑LR4). It's a mature, widely deployed solution for campus and data center interconnects where proven interoperability matters.
The 100G QSFP28 LR1 (MCQ‑6PS1LC‑10) uses a single EML laser at 1310nm with PAM4 modulation at 106.25Gb/s per channel. Electrical side remains 4×25.78Gb/s NRZ – the module internally converts and retimes the signal. This LR1 design lowers optical complexity and reduces the number of lasers, but note its power consumption is slightly higher at 4.5W due to the PAM4 DSP. It follows IEEE 802.3cu (100GBASE‑LR1‑20), making it a good fit for next‑generation switch designs that prioritize single‑lambda simplicity.

Both modules feature a duplex LC connector, support 10km link length on G.652 fiber, and include digital diagnostics via I²C. Contact us to learn more about QSFP 100G LR series.
FAQ
Q: What is the main difference between the LR4 and LR1 module? Can I use them interchangeably?
A: They both support 100Gbps over 10km of single‑mode fiber with an LC connector. The main difference is how they achieve that: LR4 uses four wavelengths (LWDM) and NRZ modulation, while LR1 uses a single wavelength (1310nm) with PAM4. They are not interchangeable – both ends of a link must be the same type (LR4 with LR4, LR1 with LR1). Mixing them will not work without additional conversion equipment.
Q: Do I need to clean the LC connectors differently than other modules?
A: No. Standard LC cleaning tools (like 1.25mm ferrule cleaners or cassette‑style LC cleaners) work fine. However, because 100G LR links are more sensitive to reflection and loss than 10G or 40G links, we strongly recommend cleaning both the module's receptacle and the patch cord end‑face before every insertion. A dirty connector is the #1 cause of link errors at 10km.
