Commonly known as 10G SFP+ LR, this module is designed to handle everything from 8.5Gb/s Fibre Channel up to 11.3Gb/s, making it a solid choice for mixed‑speed environments where reliability over distance matters.

At the heart of the SFP 10G LR module is a 1310nm DFB laser transmitter, paired with a standard duplex LC connector. It drives signals up to 10 kilometers over 9/125μm single‑mode fiber (SMF) – the familiar yellow‑jacket cable found in most campus and metro networks. The optical interface complies with IEEE 802.3ae for 10GBASE‑LR/LW, and also supports 10G Fibre Channel (1200‑SM‑LL‑L) and SDH/SONET applications.

Power is drawn from a single 3.3V supply, and the module follows SFF‑8431 and SFF‑8432 for electrical and mechanical compatibility. It is hot‑pluggable, so you can insert or replace it without powering down the host device.

One practical advantage is the availability of multiple temperature grades. The commercial version (0°C to 70°C) works for typical data center and indoor wiring closets. For outdoor cabinets or industrial sites, extended (–5°C to 85°C) and industrial (–40°C to 85°C) variants are also offered. All versions are RoHS compliant and lead‑free.
